Whisper it gently – Christmas is just round the corner… which means it’s time to get down to the many Christmas markets popping up across the country. First stop? Manchester!
Still in its first week, and running right up until December 21st, are Manchester’s famous Christmas markets.
Attracting shoppers from all over the UK and beyond, the market has put Manchester city centre firmly on the Christmas map. This year the market will be celebrating its 13th year and will take over eight different spaces around the city, each with it’s own distinct character and atmosphere.
The Christmas markets are a great way to get out and about and feel festive, despite the cold weather! Perfect for picking up great Christmas gifts, winding down after a hard day or getting merry with good friends. With its cozy, inviting and seasonally lit atmosphere, there is no doubt as to why the markets really have become a quintessential part of every Mancunian’s Christmas countdown!
The amount of food and drink on offer is plentiful with a whopping 200 stalls selling mouth-watering delicacies from all over Europe. Try sweet and savoury treats from Dutch mini pancakes and Hungarian goulash to Spanish paella, German sausage and French profiteroles. Or relax with a hot chocolate, warming Gluhwein or Austrian beer – really allowing you to soak up the magical holiday atmosphere.
European and local producers offer everything from fine jewellery, to trinkets and handcrafted leather bags. Ideal for alternative gift ideas; enjoy the banter and advice of stallholders from all over the continent, and get your Christmas shopping out the way at the same time.
