A perfect weekend away, in July.

I headed down to Kingsbridge in Devon to experience the small friendly town, the atmosphere, the get-away dream home and the beaches! I got all that and more from this lovely part of the world.

Kingsbridge is great for a trip, with plenty of fairs throughout the summer to entertain the whole family. And, with lots of cute shops, it’s hard not to find something you want to buy – for yourself or as presents.

Nearby Salcombe beach and Black Sands have beautiful clear water and are lovely on a sunny day – a great escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. There is also a lovely beach café selling locally sourced products at Black Sands – which is always a bonus

The farmer’s market was possibly the highlight of my stay, being able to buy decent local food to cook in my new massive kitchen!

Whilst the houses look like small town houses from the outside, they are very impressive from within! Our house, right in the centre of town, on Fore Street had two conservatories, a beautifully well maintained garden and a very comfortable bed.

In the mornings I strolled down to the Harbour House, to participate in the local yoga and meditation classes. Classes range from yoga and tai chi to dance classes and there is a superb vegetarian café to have your breakfast or lunch in after you’ve worked yourself into a sweat.

The local gallery holds some fantastic exhibitions throughout the year. ‘Spirit of the Coast’ with Susan Brown and Linda Wevill, is an exhibition of experimental photographs focused on the coast. Both artists, enjoy experimenting with time and shutter speeds to capture their images. Brown’s photographs are more ethereal, capturing a specific moment in time, a dreamlike state. Where as Wevill’s are exposing the mood and atmosphere of the coastline, shot when the light is low in the sky to enhance the certain colours she wishes to capture.

Kingsbridge is definitely worth a trip!
